Friday - Day 2-1

Tim and Leila have the room with the AC. Tim loves AC. Leila doesn't. Night spent with intermittent turning on and off the AC unit. Finally decided if we'd open up the room and keep the fan on, probably will work without battling the AC for control.

Turns out that after Tim and Leila had gone to bed, Deana and Blair woke up around 9:00 pm and went to dinner at nearby restaurant. Had what was described as a satisfactory meal, and didn't cost much.

In the morning, everyone was up relatively early and watched the beach front slowly come awake with cafe workers setting up tables and mopping the tiles, beach tenders setting up umbrellas and lounge chairs for the day. Finally decided things were open and ready for us, so descended to the street and chose the closest restaurant, about three steps from our door. Their version of breakfast is hard boiled eggs, toasted bagget, croissant, ham, prosciutto, cheese, fresh squeezed OJ, and tiny coffees with some substances in it that sort of looked like cream. Odd but tasty. Deana and Leila departed for the grocery store while Tim and Blair waited for the check. And we waited some more........and then we waited a while longer. Finally the English speaking waiter showed up with a tin box containing the check..when asked if they took credit cards, he directed us to go inside and negotiate the machine with another guy who didn't speak English. We then proceeded to the grocery store, about a 10 minute walk, and joined the ladies to gather an assortment of food objects. Checking out we discovered that most of the vegetables were supposed to have been processed, by us, at an indecipherable machine that spit out price tags. You could almost hear the collective sigh of the store workers. They had to open another check out station while our gal took our stuff to the pricing machine and processed all our things. Not sure what we'll do next time...maybe hire a local to shop with us?
